Experience that Makes a Difference

Prior to starting his own law firm attorney Prendergast served as a law clerk to the Honorable Donald P. Smith in the Colorado Court of Appeals. In 1984, just a year after beginning his private practice, Mr. Prendergast argued his first Colorado Supreme Court case. As a criminal defender, he has represented clients accused of violent crimes, sex offenses, drug trafficking, white collar financial crimes, and other severe crimes including a number of first-degree murder cases. As a former special prosecutor, Mr. Prendergast is able to analyze the important issues on both sides of every case.

Just as impressive as his private practice accomplishments, Mr. Prendergast has a long record of teaching, lecturing, and publishing. He has taught courses on family law, criminal law, torts, and personal injury to students of Arapahoe Community College in Littleton. Mr. Prendergast has lectured to judges at the Municipal Judicial Conference of the State of Colorado. He has given talks to fellow attorneys at the State Public Defenders Conference; regional Bar associations including the Denver Bar Association and the Douglass/Elbert, Jefferson, and Arapahoe Counties Bar Associations; and the Young Lawyers Association. Mr. Prendergast has also presented lectures on First Amendment rights and academic freedom to the ACLU. Paul Prendergast has penned biographies of notable Colorado defense attorneys in “Colorado Lawyer.” He often contributes articles to various local bar publications.
